Anime Hajime Review: Hidamari Sketch - Sae and Hiro's Graduation Arc

OVA Synopsis

Sooner or later, everything must come to an end.

When she first arrived at the Hidamari Apartments, Yuno (voiced by Kana Asumi) wasn’t sure what make to of it all. High school seemed like the ultimate challenge. Fortunately, it wasn’t one she would have to do alone.

Over the course of her high school career, Yuno meet many new people. Including her best friend and fellow Hidamari resident Miyako (voiced by Kaori Mizuhashi). Before they knew it, they managed to put a year under their belts. Then Yuno and Miyako had their own underclassmen. Newcomers Nori (voiced by Hitomi Harada) and Nazuna (voiced by Chiaki Omigawa).

Though things were difficult, they were always fun. But that wouldn’t have been possible if not for the support of Yuno’s two upperclassmen. Hidamari's senior residents Sae (voiced by Ryoko Shintani) and Hiro (voiced by Yuko Goto). Yuno cannot express what these two have meant to her. And it makes having to say goodbye all the hard.

It's Sae and Hiro’s turn to move in their lives. To meet their goals and fulfill their dreams. The legacy they leave behind will surely light the path for those who follow them.

With that, let's return to the Hidamari Apartments. One last time.

Anime Hajime Review: Hidamari Sketch Honeycomb

Series Synopsis

For a fourth time, welcome back to the Hidamari Apartments, right across the way from Yamabuki Arts High School. As it has been in the past, the residents of the small complex are as big of a family as you can imagine.

Our two second years, the lovable Yuno (voiced by Kana Asumi) and the energetic Miyako (voiced by Kaori Mizuhashi), have become quite accustomed to living on their own and those trying first few days seem like a lifetime ago. Now these best friends, especially Yuno, take on a new challenge of becoming reliable role models for their own underclassmen, the computer whiz Nori (voiced by Hitomi Harada) and the shy Nazuna (voiced by Chiaki Omigawa).

Things don’t always go as planned, much to Yuno’s adorable chagrin. What makes it okay though is that she can still turn to the loving Hiro (voiced by Yuko Goto) and the strong Sae (voiced by Ryoko Shintani) for guidance.

School and test and the general stress of day to day life might be challenging, but none of it is that bad when these six are together. Sadly, all good things must come to the end. It may be painful to imagine, but eventually this group will have to graduate from Yamabuki High and move out of the Hidamari Apartments. However, when you thing about it, the time spend here is only the first chapter in what is sure to be a lifelong friendship.

Anime Hajime Review: Hidamari Sketch Hoshimittsu

Series Synopsis

For a third time, we return to the Hidamari Apartments located across the street from Yamabuki Art School. A new year is starting and besides everyone being older, nothing has changed. As always the residents of the small complex, the kindhearted Yuno (voiced by Kana Asumi), the lovable airhead Miyako (voiced by Kaori Mizuhashi), the motherly Hiro (voiced by Yuko Goto), and the accomplished author Sae (voiced by Ryoko Shintani), enjoy spending their time together.

Yet there is big news on the horizon. This close knit family is about to get a little bigger with the arrival of two new residents, the quiet and reserved Nazuna (voiced by Chiaki Omigawa) and the straightforwardly honest computer wizard Nori (voiced by Hitomi Harada).

The now six residents of Hidamari quickly bond and it becomes hard to imagine a time when they weren’t together.

The coming term is shaping up to be quite eventful. Yuno in particular looks onward with her typical gleeful excitement as she continues to better her art and learns how be to a fitting role model for her new underclassmen.

Series Synopsis

Welcome back to the Hidamari Apartments. Like before, moments of randomness and liveliness fill the lives of the residents.

Yuno (voiced by Kana Asumi) is still in her first year along with her best friend and next-door neighbor, Miyako (voiced by Kaori Mizuhashi).

While doing well on their own, they keep looking towards their seniors Hiro (voiced by Yuko Goto) and Sae (voiced by Ryoko Shintani), for advice. Yet no matter what, the four rely on each other for support.

As the days and months move on, the tenants of the Hidamari Apartments continue to grow.

Anime Hajime Review: Hidamari Sketch

Series Synopsis

Yamabuki Arts is a top vocational academy for aspiring artist. And across the street is the small Hidamari Apartment building.

Yuno (voiced by Kana Asumi) has dreamed of attending the famous art school and she lives in room 201. Soft-spoken and compassionate, she soon befriends the other residents.

Miyako (voiced by Kaori Mizuhashi) is Yuno’s neighbor, classmate, and closest friend. She is a skilled artist and the polar opposite of the low key Yuno. Loud, bombastic, and spontaneous, she moves with little rhyme or reason.

Hiro (voiced by Yuko Goto) is a year older than Yuno and Miyako and lives on the floor below them. A source of moral support, she is the mother figure for the group.

Sae (voiced by Ryoko Shintani) is best friends with Hiro as well as her next-door neighbor. A published author, she attends Yamabuki so she can draw the illustrations for her novels.

These four spend their time bettering their art, living their lives, and always together.
